BMW Launches F 450 GS in India: New Mid-Weight Adventure Tourer Arrives
BikeRaja News · 7 August 2025
New Delhi, August 7, 2025 — BMW Motorrad has officially launched the much-anticipated F 450 GS in the Indian market, marking the brand’s entry into the mid-weight adventure touring segment under 500 cc. Positioned as a global model, the F 450 GS is expected to offer a balance between off-road capability and on-road performance, with a competitive price tag likely in the ₹4.5–5.5 lakh (ex-showroom) range. A New Gateway to GS Adventure Series The F 450 GS sits below the larger F 750 GS and F 850 GS in BMW’s adventure lineup, targeting young and entry-level ADV enthusiasts. The motorcycle is based on an all-new platform developed specifically for emerging markets like India, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
It is expected to be manufactured locally or partially assembled through BMW’s facility in Chennai, which could help keep costs in check. Performance and Engine The BMW F 450 GS is powered by a newly developed 450 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine expected to produce around 40–43 horsepower and 38–40 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike will come with multiple riding modes, dual-channel ABS, and possibly a switchable ABS function for off-road use. BMW claims the bike will offer a well-balanced ride experience with a focus on low-end torque, smooth highway cruising, and light off-road trails.
Design and Features The F 450 GS carries forward the familiar GS family design language — upright ADV styling, beak-like front fender, high ground clearance, long-travel suspension, and a semi-digital instrument console. The bike is likely to be equipped with LED lighting, USB charging port, and Bluetooth-enabled features through BMW’s ConnectedRide platform. Spoke wheels with dual-purpose tyres, a tall windscreen, and a bash plate further highlight its adventure touring DNA. India Launch Strategy BMW Motorrad is expected to position the F 450 GS as a premium alternative to models like the KTM 390 Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
It also targets customers looking to upgrade from 250–350 cc bikes without jumping directly to the high-cost 850 cc segment. Dealers across major metro cities have begun accepting pre-bookings, with deliveries slated to begin in the final quarter of 2025. Company Statement In a press release, BMW Motorrad India stated: "The F 450 GS opens a new chapter for the GS series in India. It brings BMW’s global adventure DNA in a more accessible format, designed for both urban riders and adventure seekers."
