Honda is poised to expand its liter-class lineup with the new CB1000 GT—a touring-centric evolution of the CB1000 Hornet—recently leaked ahead of its global premiere at EICMA. This new motorcycle builds on the Hornet platform but introduces significant changes to cater to long-distance riding enthusiasts. According to leaked homologation filings, the CB1000 GT stands out with longer-travel suspension, promising more comfort across various road surfaces. Ergonomics have been reworked to enhance touring capability, featuring thicker seats for both rider and pillion, foot pegs positioned for relaxed cruising, and a more forward-placed pillion rest.
Iconic elements such as a tall windscreen and robust knuckle guards reinforce its touring DNA. Visually, the GT gets a distinct fairing that integrates with the twin-pod LED headlamp, a redesigned fuel tank, and a more spacious tail section ready for panniers. It retains the familiar frame from the Hornet but may employ a revised sub-frame to accommodate its new tail. Performance comes from the same 1,000cc inline-four engine as the Hornet, producing 150bhp, paired with features like a quick shifter and premium Nissin front brake calipers.
The CB1000 GT is physically longer, wider, and heavier than its naked sibling, befitting its touring ambitions. Official specifications and further details will be released at EICMA, with anticipation high for a full unveiling in Milan. Whether the CB1000 GT will be launched in India is still to be confirmed.
