Honda expanded the availability of its innovative E-Clutch system to five additional motorcycles across its 500cc and 750cc lineup at EICMA 2025. The new models benefiting from the semi-automatic clutch technology include the CBR500R, CB500 Hornet, NX500 in the 500cc category, and the Hornet 750 and XL750 Transalp in the 750cc segment. Honda’s E-Clutch system allows riders to shift gears smoothly without operating the clutch lever manually. This advanced electronic system uses actuators to manage clutch engagement and disengagement automatically, offering effortless shifting during starts, stops, and gear transitions, particularly beneficial in stop-and-go traffic or technical riding conditions.
Importantly, the traditional clutch lever remains functional at all times for riders who prefer full manual control. The implementation of E-Clutch in the 750cc models, especially on the XL750 Transalp, works hand-in-hand with ride-by-wire technology to provide throttle blipping during downshifts. This enhances smoothness, especially during off-road riding, by matching engine revs with wheel speed. The system improves rider comfort and control without compromising the riding experience.
By extending E-Clutch across these mid-capacity motorcycles, Honda aims to democratize cutting-edge clutch technology, making riding more accessible and less fatiguing without sacrificing performance or control. This move solidifies Honda’s leadership in innovation and caters to a wide range of riders, from daily commuters to adventure enthusiasts.
