Kawasaki W175 Review – Features, Performance, and Design

Kawasaki W175 Full specifications and price: Kawasaki W175 Retro Revival: Kawasaki W175 Review In recent years, the Indian motorcycle market has witnessed a surge in the demand for retro-themed motorcycles that blend classic styling with modern amenities. Kawasaki, a renowned Japanese manufacturer, has joined the fray with the launch of the W175, a 177cc neo-retro motorcycle that promises to transport riders back in time. We spent some quality time with the W175 to see if it lives up to its promise. Design and Styling The W175 is a visual treat, with a design language that pays homage to the iconic Kawasaki W1 from the 1960s.

The bike's rounded lines, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, and chrome-plated exhaust pipe evoke a sense of nostalgia, making it a head-turner on the roads. The W175's compact dimensions and low seat height of 790mm make it accessible to riders of all sizes, including those new to motorcycling. Engine and Performance Powering the W175 is a 177cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 12.80 PS of maximum power and 13.20 Nm of peak torque. While the output may not seem impressive on paper, the engine is tuned for optimal performance in the low-to-mid rev range, making it ideal for city commuting and short highway stints.

The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission that offers smooth and precise shifts. Riding Experience Hopping onto the W175, we were impressed by its light and agile nature. The bike tips the scales at just 135 kg, making it easy to maneuver through congested city streets. The suspension, comprising telescopic forks upfront and a twin-tube rear monoshock, provides a comfortable ride, soaking up bumps and potholes with ease.

The W175 feels most at home in the 40-60 km/h speed range, where it delivers a smooth and relaxed ride. Comfort and Ergonomics The W175's ergonomics are designed to provide a comfortable riding experience, with a upright riding position that puts the rider in command. The handlebars are wide and easy to grip, while the footpegs are positioned for a natural riding stance. The seat, although a tad firm, provides adequate support for both the rider and pillion.

Features and Technology While the W175 may not boast the latest technological advancements, it makes up for it with its simplicity and ease of use. The analog instrument cluster is easy to read, displaying essential information such as speed, fuel level, and odometer readings. The bike also features a halogen headlamp and LED taillight, ensuring adequate illumination in low-light conditions. Mileage and Range Kawasaki claims the W175 returns an impressive 30 kmpl, making it an attractive option for commuters.

The 12-liter fuel tank provides a decent range, allowing riders to cover approximately 360 km on a single fill-up. Price and Competition The Kawasaki W175 is priced competitively in the Indian market, with an ex-showroom price of around Rs 1.50 lakh. In this segment, it faces stiff competition from the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Honda CB350 RS, and the Jawa Forty-Two. Verdict The Kawasaki W175 is a charming neo-retro motorcycle that blends classic styling with modern amenities.

While it may not be the most powerful or feature-rich bike in its class, it makes up for it with its smooth engine, comfortable ride, and accessible price tag. If you're a fan of retro-themed motorcycles and prioritize ride quality and fuel efficiency, the W175 is definitely worth considering. For more information on the Kawasaki W175, visit:
