KTM Preparing New 990 Duke Super Naked Bike for India – Expected Launch in 2026

India’s premium motorcycle segment has been growing steadily as riders increasingly move towards high-performance machines that offer a mix of everyday usability and track-inspired performance. In response to this rising demand, KTM AG is reportedly planning to introduce the new KTM 990 Duke in India, a motorcycle designed to deliver extreme performance in the super naked category. The KTM Duke series has always been known for its aggressive styling, lightweight construction and sharp handling characteristics. The upcoming 990 Duke is expected to continue this tradition while introducing a new generation of engineering and technology.

The motorcycle will sit above the popular KTM 890 Duke and could become one of the most powerful naked bikes offered by KTM in India. Powering the motorcycle is expected to be a 947cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that delivers strong performance across the entire rev range. Industry reports suggest that the engine could produce around 120 horsepower, giving the motorcycle impressive acceleration and top-end performance. This engine configuration is designed to provide both thrilling power delivery and improved rideability on city streets as well as open highways.

KTM is also expected to equip the motorcycle with a range of advanced electronic rider aids that enhance both safety and performance. These could include multiple riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS and wheelie control. The motorcycle is also likely to feature a large TFT display with smartphone connectivity, allowing riders to access navigation, ride data and bike settings directly from the instrument cluster. In terms of design, the upcoming 990 Duke will feature KTM’s signature streetfighter styling with sharp body panels, a muscular fuel tank and an aggressive front fascia.

The bike’s distinctive LED headlamp design and exposed mechanical components highlight its raw performance-focused character. KTM motorcycles are widely known for their bold orange colour schemes, and the new model is expected to retain this iconic visual identity. The chassis and suspension setup are also expected to receive significant upgrades. KTM typically focuses on lightweight construction and precise handling, and the new Duke could feature a high-performance steel trellis frame combined with premium WP suspension components.

This setup is designed to deliver exceptional stability during high-speed riding while maintaining agility for quick direction changes. If launched in India, the KTM 990 Duke will compete with several premium naked motorcycles including the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Ducati Monster. These motorcycles have established themselves as strong contenders in the high-performance streetfighter category. Motorcycle industry analysts believe that the introduction of the 990 Duke could significantly strengthen KTM’s position in the premium motorcycle market.

The company already has a strong presence in India through its partnership with Bajaj Auto, which manufactures several KTM models locally for both domestic and global markets. Expected Price and Launch Although KTM has not officially confirmed the India launch timeline, reports suggest that the motorcycle could arrive in the country by late 2026 or early 2027. The expected price could range between ₹13 lakh and ₹15 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in the premium performance motorcycle category. The arrival of the KTM 990 Duke could mark another important step in the evolution of India’s premium motorcycle market.

With its powerful engine, advanced electronics and aggressive streetfighter design, the motorcycle is expected to appeal to enthusiasts who want a high-performance naked bike capable of delivering an exciting riding experience on both roads and racetracks.
