BikeRaja News · 12 August 2025
KTM has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of the RC 160, a fully-faired sports bike based on the recently unveiled 160 Duke. Positioned as the most affordable model in the RC line-up, it aims to attract riders looking for sporty styling, agile handling, and accessible performance in the 150–160 cc segment. Design & Platform The RC 160 will share its chassis with the Duke 160, featuring a lightweight trellis frame derived from KTM’s 200 cc platform. The bike will get a full fairing for an aggressive, race-inspired look, along with clip-on handlebars for a more committed riding stance compared to the Duke’s upright ergonomics.
Engine & Performance Power will come from a 164.2 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing around 19 hp at 9,500 rpm and 15.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-assist clutch, offering smooth gear shifts and reduced clutch effort. Hardware & Features The bike is expected to feature 17-inch alloy wheels, USD front forks, a rear mono-shock, and disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS. A modern electronics package will include LED headlights, tail lamps, and indicators, along with a 5-inch digital LCD display featuring Bluetooth connectivity, music controls, and turn-by-turn navigation.
Expected Launch & Pricing The KTM RC 160 is likely to launch during the festive season, with pricing expected between ₹1.8 lakh and ₹1.9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete directly against models like the Yamaha R15 V4, offering similar performance with KTM’s signature sharp styling and track-focused dynamics. Market Impact With its combination of accessible pricing, sporty appeal, and proven KTM performance, the RC 160 is set to be an attractive option for new riders stepping into the world of faired sports bikes. It could become a strong contender in the growing premium commuter-sport segment in India.
