Suzuki Developing Hydrogen-Powered Burgman Scooter for 2025 Debut

Suzuki is taking a bold step towards sustainable two-wheeler technology with the development of a new Burgman scooter powered by a hydrogen engine. The upcoming model aims to combine the joy and character of traditional motorcycles, including an exhaust note, with the eco-friendly promise of hydrogen propulsion. According to the company, the hydrogen-powered Burgman is currently under active development and will be showcased in concept form at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. A detailed cutaway version of the scooter is expected to be displayed, offering insights into the hydrogen fuel system and its integration within a compact two-wheeler chassis.

Suzuki’s initiative underlines its long-term strategy to develop cleaner, sustainable mobility solutions without compromising the essence of riding performance. Over the years, the company has been experimenting with different technologies, including electric and hybrid propulsion. Earlier this year, Suzuki displayed the e-Access electric scooter in India, though it is yet to be launched. By exploring hydrogen technology in scooters, Suzuki’s goal is to diversify its clean mobility portfolio and create products that are both fun to ride and environmentally conscious.

The project could pave the way for a new era of zero-emission two-wheelers that retain the traditional sound and feel cherished by riders.
