Zontes GK350 Full specifications and price: Zontes GK350 Unleashing the Zontes GK350: A Middleweight Motorcycle for the Indian Masses In recent years, the Indian motorcycle market has witnessed a surge in demand for middleweight motorcycles. Catering to this growing demand, Chinese manufacturer Zontes has introduced the GK350, a 348cc motorcycle that promises to deliver a blend of performance, comfort, and style. As an automotive journalist, I had the opportunity to put the Zontes GK350 through its paces, and here's what I think of this latest entrant in the Indian motorcycle market. Engine and Performance At the heart of the Zontes GK350 lies a 348cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces 38.20 PS of power and 32.80 Nm of torque.
While these figures may not seem impressive on paper, the engine's performance is more than adequate for city riding and occasional highway jaunts. The power delivery is smooth and linear, making it easy to navigate through congested city streets. However, when pushed hard, the engine does feel a bit strained, and the lack of a sixth gear becomes noticeable. On the highway, the GK350 can comfortably cruise at speeds of up to 120 km/h, but pushing it beyond that may not be the most exhilarating experience.
The top speed of 140 km/h is respectable, but it's not an area where the Zontes excels. Where it does shine, though, is in terms of fuel efficiency, with an impressive claimed mileage of 26.70 kmpl. Design and Comfort The Zontes GK350's design language is modern and sleek, with a focus on aerodynamics. The motorcycle's lines are angular and aggressive, with a sharp, pointed nose and a stepped-up seat.
The LED headlight is a nice touch, providing excellent illumination, while the instrument cluster is feature-packed and easy to read. The 17-litre fuel tank is large enough to provide a decent range between fill-ups, but it does make the motorcycle feel slightly top-heavy. In terms of ergonomics, the GK350 scores high marks. The seat height of 795 mm is accessible for riders of varying inseams, while the handlebars are wide and comfortable to grip.
The footpegs are also well-positioned, providing ample legroom. Overall, the riding position is neutral and comfortable, making it suitable for daily commuting and weekend jaunts. Features and Safety One of the standout features of the Zontes GK350 is its Bluetooth connectivity, which allows riders to pair their smartphones and access features like navigation, music, and phone calls through the motorcycle's instrument cluster. While this may not be a unique feature in today's market, it's certainly a welcome addition to a motorcycle in this segment.
However, the GK350 does lack some essential safety features, such as ABS (anti-lock braking system) and a slipper clutch. While the brakes do provide adequate stopping power, the absence of ABS may be a concern for some riders. Additionally, the lack of a quick shifter may disappoint enthusiasts who prefer the added convenience of clutchless upshifts. Riding Experience On the road, the Zontes GK350 is a capable and confidence-inspiring motorcycle.
The suspension is well-tuned, soaking up bumps and potholes with ease, while the handling is light and predictable. The motorcycle feels planted and stable at high speeds, and the Bridgestone tyres provide excellent grip. However, when pushed hard, the GK350 does reveal some of its limitations. The engine can feel a bit overwhelmed, and the lack of a sixth gear means that the motorcycle can feel a bit buzzy at high revs.
Nevertheless, for the average commuter or leisure rider, the GK350 is more than capable of meeting their needs. Price and Verdict The Zontes GK350 is priced competitively in the Indian market, with an ex-showroom price of around ₹2.5 lakh. At this price, the motorcycle offers excellent value for money, considering its feature set, performance, and comfort. In conclusion, the Zontes GK350 is a worthy contender in the middleweight motorcycle segment.
While it may not excel in any one area, it provides a well-rounded package that should appeal to a wide range of riders. Whether you're a daily commuter or a leisure rider, the GK350 is definitely worth considering. For more information on the Zontes GK350, including prices, features, and specifications, please visit:
